Four YouTube creators across three generations sit down with The Jed Foundation (JED) to discuss loneliness, FOMO, and creating strong relationships at any age. You may know Dylan Lemay @Dylanlemay‬ from his fun and yummy ice cream videos (choco taco, anyone?). What you might not know is that Dylan has dealt with sadness and depression. After graduating from college and during the pandemic, Dylan felt directionless and struggled with feelings of failure and disappointment, before seeking help and learning to address his emotions healthily. In his conversation with Dr. Laura Erickson-Schroth, the Chief Medical Officer at The Jed Foundation (JED), Dylan reveals how he copes with sadness and depression, and how starting therapy helped relieve the weight of his sadness.
Rafaele “Crash” Massarelli and Vince “Adams” Sasso of Crash Adams of the pop music duo @CrashAdams‬ open up about coping with hopelessness after both of their mothers were diagnosed with breast cancer at different points in their lives. In addition to playing the first-ever stripped-down version of their song “Optimist,” they get real about what helped with their hopelessness, and how they overcame the difficulty of asking for help to find mental health support.
Cassandra Bankson @CassandraBankson‬, a creator, medical aesthetician, and self-proclaimed “acne big sister” has perfected a skin care routine for depression — and has an incredible story of coping with intense depression and anxiety. (Note: Cassandra also discusses self-harm.). Cassandra sits down with Dr. Laura Erickson-Schroth, the chief medical officer at The Jed Foundation (JED), to talk about the difference between being sad vs. depressed, mental health warning signs and symptoms, and how talking to friends and family about depression can be one of the best ways to take care of yourself.
